Reham Saeed Banned From Appearing on Any Media Platforms For One Year

Controversial Egyptian TV host, Reham Saeed, has been banned from appearing on any media platform for one year by Egypt’s Supreme Court of Media Regulation, following the furor caused by comments she made on her 'Sabaya' talk show about people suffering with obesity.

She was called for interrogation on Sunday by the court’s Complaints Committee after the National Council for Women filed an official complaint. Said complaint accused Saeed for insulting Egyptian women, using inappropriate phrases and descriptions and causing distress among women in Egypt.

Her body-shaming comments were met with publich backlash, with many accusing her of being insensitive insulting in saying that "fat people are a burden on their famillies, society, and themselves," adding that they are 'displeasing to look at and scorning Egyptian women for having lost their femininity by being overweight and wearing loose, traditional garments.
