Cairo University is introducing a new undergraduate programme for Environmental Science and Technology. It will offer multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary courses to prepare young minds to conduct their own research and apply their knowledge in the field, both locally and internationally.
Not only will they gain a comprehensive understanding of the environment, but students will also be able to assess and discuss the social impact made by the environment, and how they will be able to address social issues created as a result.
The programme is one of many new additions to Cairo University since it signed a cooperation protocol with the Ministry of Environment in June 2021. Since then, the Ministry of Environment has helped implement a variety of workshops and awareness campaigns within the university, as well as helped shape the curriculum and expand the availability of green jobs - especially leading up to Egypt hosting the COP27 Climate Change Conference in Sharm El Sheikh later this year.
