Cairo Jazz Festival 2021 to Take Place in Cairo, Alexandria & Aswan

One of the region’s biggest jazz events, Cairo Jazz Festival, has announced its 2021 return, with the 13th edition of the musical extravaganza set to take place between October 28th and November 5th across Cairo, Alexandria and, for the first time, Aswan.

While this year’s lineup is yet to be revealed, previous editions of the festival have been littered with local musicians and international artists from every corner of the world. Established names have included the likes of Gilberto Gil, Ziad Rahbani, Carles Benavent, Kazumi Wantabe and Han Bennik, and a new generation of progressive jazz musicians such as E.M.J.O, Eftekasat and Calima have also found a home at the festival.

This year the festival is expected to feature artists from Egypt, Germany, USA, Portugal, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Hungary, Sudan, The Netherlands, Austria, Denmark, Bulgaria and Argentia, a list that speaks to the vision of the festival founder, Amro Salah, of it being a breeding ground for jazz musicians of all kind to come together and celebrate the enduring genre. Having debuted in 2009, Salah - a seasoned pianist, composer and producer - has put his heart and soul into the festival, a commitment that was showcased in acclaimed documentary, Cairo Jazz Man, which is centred on Salah.

Beyond the hours of live music, the festival will also include workshops and other activities across all three cities. Stay tuned for more info...
