Egyptian Parliament Announces Legal Requirements to Being a Sayes
Egypt's Parliament approved the Sayes Law last Thursday.
On Thursday, Egypt's Parliament approved a new law, dubbed The Sayes Law, in which the legal framework for practicing the notorious position was laid, Al Ahram reports.
Twenty one is the minimum age for anyone who aspires to be a parking valet, according to the approved law. They should also be literate, have valid driving licenses, and have never been convicted in a court of law. A negative drug test will also be a perquisite for acquiring a license to work as a parking valet in Egypt.
In addition to specifying the conditions for obtaining a sayes permit, the newly approved law sets a punishment of up to 6 months in prison and EGP 5K fine for those practicing the profession without said permit. The punishments double if the offence is repeated.
Furthermore, the law sets a limit on how much drivers are charged for parking their vehicles, which varies from one area to another. Charging more than the preset price is to be considered a criminal offence.
