377 Diesel Buses Across Egypt Will Be Converted to Natural Gas in 2022

As part of a six-phase plan to convert 2,262 diesel-powered public buses to natural gas, the Egyptian government has started implementing the transformation on 377 buses in Cairo and Alexandria throughout 2022. These conversions will cost EGP 200 million, with the total cost of the project coming out to EGP 1.2 billion.

By converting buses to natural gas, the project hopes to lessen the impact of public transportation on the environment, and make use of Egypt's natural gas production.

So far, 24 buses have been converted for use by both governorates.
