Nothin' but smooth swimming here on now.
We just got a first look on Nike’s new Victory Swim Collection featuring the Nike Victory Full-Coverage Swimsuit, which is basically a perfectly-produced athletic burkini. The swimsuit - and its accompanying Nike Victory Swim Hijab, Nike Victory Swim Tunic Top and Nike Victory Swim Leggings - are all made for peak performance without sacrificing one's sense of modesty.
“Its sleek, innovative silhouette provide a game-changing option for female athletes seeking full coverage and full range of motion in the water,” Nike wrote. Nike has long been making sports more comfortable and accessible to all athletes, and now have succeeded at including Muslim sportswomen as well, a group often overlooked by major athletic-wear brands.
Quick-drying, lightweight, chlorine-resistant fabric reducing water retention, head-to-toe UPF 40+ protection and a built-in mesh-backed bra are only a few of the groundbreaking features these swim pieces entail. The swim hijab also integrates a fitted headband and mesh hair pocket to ensure that the hair is contained, without any worry of it slipping out.
“The suit doesn’t just soak in all the water, it’s the opposite,” Emirati professional figure skater Zahra Lari told Nike. “It’s almost like the water just falls off whenever you come out of the pool. I’ve never seen anything like it.”
After the Nike Pro Hijab garnered huge success and won Fast Company’s Top Design Award in 2017, the right move was to keep going. Nike aim to continually innovate with designs catered to athletes of all backgrounds, body types, abilities and aspirations. Nike aims to continually innovate with designs catered to being inclusive for all athletes.
Hopefully, this new gear will help women athletes in the region bring home more medals, especially considering promise and excitement of the Tokyo Olympics taking place this summer.
